Rumor mills are in action once again, and this time they are providing details about the upcoming super machine from Porsche. The new machine comes between the highly fashionable 911 GTS RS and the 918 Spider. These rumors have not been confirmed by the 960’s automaker, Porsche. Other rumors indicate that the German manufacturer may be offering a four door coupe in addition to the current two door 960 model. The German based automaker Porsche is expected to be commencing the production of the 2017 Porsche 960. The company is targeting to sell about 4000 960 models annually. Production of this model is will begin in early 2017 in Zuffenhausen parent plant.
2017 PORSCHE 960: REDESIGN EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR
The upcoming model, 2017 Porsche 960 will be based on Porsche’s new platform dubbed Modular Sport Architecture which is specifically tailored for mid and rear engine automotive. This platform will comprise of extensive use of high strength steel, titanium, magnesium, carbon fiber and aluminum among other light weight materials. The materials will assist in keeping the new model’s weight at about 3000 pounds. Again, the new platform will enable the new 2017 Porsche 960 to be light and rigid that the outgoing model. The redesigned model will be a two door coupe.
On its interior, there will be numerous comfort features which include fine leather upholstered seats, CD changes, MP3player, AM/FM radio, cup holders and remote controlled ignition among many more. 2017 PORSCHE 960: ENGINE AND FUEL ECONOMY
This two door coupe will pack a 3.9 liter eight-cylinder engine beneath its hood. The engine will be equipped with four turbochargers tow intercoolers and multi-stage intake manifolds as well as a dual exhaust system. Four adjustable camshafts including other slight upgrades will also be provided. These improvements will enable the new model to generate about 650 bhp or 450 kW of maximum power. It will be mated to a seven speed manual and seven speed automatic transmission, with an all-wheel drive mechanism. The preferred fuel type will be petrol while the new 960’s tank capacity will be 20 gallons. The new Porsche 960 will accelerate from zero to sixty mph in only 2.5 seconds and it will reach a top speed of 200 miles per hour. Other rumors indicate that the new 960 would use a 4.6 liter V8 borrowed from Porsche 911. This second drive0train would be able to deliver an output of 570 horsepower, and it would still utilize other high-tech features such as the complex multi-stage intake manifold, while its power would be transmitted through a seven speed dual clutch transmission.

2017 Porsche 960 will face tough competition from the likes of Ferrari 458 Italia, McLaren 12C, Audi R8 and Lamborghini Gallardo. This flagship is scheduled to go for about $ 250 000. The 2017 Porsche 960 is scheduled to debut sometimes in 2017.
