2016 Volkswagen Golf R

The latest product to be released by Volkswagen in its R division is will be the 2016 Volkswagen Golf R. It will be a powerful version of the seventh generation Golf R. News about this upcoming version was revealed during Beijing Auto Show. The company said that production of this model will commence by the end of year 2014. It will be built on the recently presented MQB platform which will help in boosting this car’s power output to almost 300 horsepower.

Reports indicate that 2016 Volkswagen Golf R will acquire substantial changes. It will come with a new hardware for exhaust valve, an inclusive cylinder head and a new piston. Again, its turbocharger will be large in order to boost the pressure to about 17.4 psi. Just like Volkswagen’s previous generations, this upcoming model will also be sporty and it will bear an aggressive look. It will come with black brake calipers, an improved grille, 18 inch aluminum wheels, new LED daytime running lights in addition to bigger air inlets will also feature in this car. It will also have a sports air exhauster with 4 chrome tail-pipes on its back, and a sports diffuser with “R” design.

Among the new features which will be made available include a stereo audio system with simple to use controls. Bluetooth aspects will also be available and it will offer the user audio streaming. In terms of its safety features, the 2016 Volkswagen Golf R will come with a rear camera, forward collision warning system, post collision braking and parking sensors among others.

2016 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF R: ENGINE AND FUEL ECONOMY

The 2016 Volkswagen Golf R engine will features a new cylinder head, high pressure injection valves, exhaust valves, pistons, valve seats and springs as well as a redesigned turbocharger. All its power will then be sent through a permanent 4MOTION all-wheel drive system which has been a permanent feature on the Golf R. Indeed, the inner characteristics of a sports car are the most important aspects for the drivers and car enthusiasts. For this reason, the 2016 Volkswagen Golf R is receiving an improved engine.

Under its hood, there will be a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4 cylinder engine with direct injection. This 2.0-liter engine is believed to be more efficient and lighter as compared to the engine in the previous models. It produces 290 horsepower at 5.500 rmp and 280 lb feet of torque between 1.800 to 5.500 rmp, which is higher than that of the outgoing models. Reports from Volkswagen officials indicate that this car can provide 33 mpg if its electronic limiter is inactive. There will be six speed manual transmission, while an optional six speed DSG dual clutch automatic transmission is also expected. Given all these engine changes on the 2016 Volkswagen Golf R, this car will be able to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 5.3 seconds, which will be less by 0.4 seconds that in the current model.

2016 Volkswagen Golf R: Release Date and Price

Sources indicate that this new car might be launched in December of 2015 in the USA as a 2016 model. Regarding its price, there are no official announcements, but people anticipate that its selling price will begin at $ 40 000.
