After the discontinuation of the Skylark in the year 1997, Buick was left without any proper compact car. However, Buick made a successful comeback to this compact segment by launching the Verano sedan in the year 2011. This model quickly Buicks Encore and Enclave crossovers in helping the automaker to grow both in the U.S and in China. By the year 2013, Verano only accounted for about 20% of Buick’s sales in the U.S. Despite the fact that the current Verano has been around for only three years, Buick is already making plans to release a brand new Verano which will be based on the same Delta II platform.
2016 BUICK VERANO: REDESIGN EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR
According to spy shots, this sedan will keep its sleek outline but it will get a prettier rear end. There will be new taillights which will extend more into its fenders. The new Verano will benefit from Buick’s trademark front grille which will be wider to make the car more aggressive. Its front end is sloppier too. The rear comes with a slightly duck-tailed design with a dual trapezoidal exhaust rendered at the lower bumper. This model will also borrow a few features from the larger LaCrosse model. Its aerodynamic has a longer roofline while the front and rear glass is more flat. In addition, this redesigned 2016 Buick Verano comes with shorter trunk lids with outstretched C-pillars. The 2016 Buick Verano also comes with a dual-pane moon-roof such as the one available in the Cruze model.
This model is not expected to get significant changes inside. In fact, it is speculated that the 2016 Buick Verano will keep some of the former interior features some of which were introduced in the 2013 model and others in the 2015 model. They include the interlink infotainment system with text message alerts and free compatibility with Siri Eyes, and the Onstar 4G LTE with an ability to turn the model on where Wi-Fi is available as well as 3G downloads ability.
2016 BUICK VERANO: ENGINE AND FUEL ECONOMY
This model will come with improved performance as compared to that of the outgoing model that has an engine capacity of 1.5 liter. It is expected to adopt the new General Motor’s Ecotech engine family which will enable t to have all the power units turbo charged and at the same time offer a diesel alternative as well. The base model will run on a 2.4 liter Ecotech four-cylinder engine that will generate an outstanding 180 horsepower. The 2016 Buick Verano will also have a turbocharged trim which will be powered by a 2.0 liter engine. This engine will generate an impressive output of 151 horses and 264 pounds-feet of torque while returning approximately 46 mpg on the highway.
2016 Buick Verano: Release Date, Price and Competitors
This car will be made in such a way that it will be able to rival the tough competition from Mercedes Benz CLA-Class, Acura ILX and Audi A3. It will also be able to compete effectively with models such as Opel Astra and Chevrolet Cruze. 2016 Buick Verano might be released for the Chinese market in the middle of 2015 during the Shanghai Auto Show. For the American market, the same model will be released towards the end of 2015, or in the first quarter of 2016. Its price tag is estimated at about $ 28 000, which is slightly higher than the current model’s price.
