2016 BMW 6-Series convertible

The new 2016 BMW 6-Series is not only very elegant but it has also undergone some updating. However, the changes are not very noticeable and in fact the only people who are going to notice the changes are those who are diehard BMW fans. The 6-Series boasts of coupes, convertibles and four-door coupes as well as corresponding M6 variants. Since the 6-series has already proven to be a success, designers have chosen not to tinker around too much with an apparently successful and winning formula. The only thing that they have done is tweaked a few things here and a few things there. The end result is that the 2016 BMW 6-Series look like they not only pack more power but they also look very sharp and sporty.

2016 BMW 6-Series front

Some models of the 2016 BMW 6-Series pack a lot of power under the hood. The base 2016 6-series continues to be a 640i. A 3.0-liter engine that produces 315 horsepower, which is an improvement over the previous models’ 300 horsepower powers this particular model. The 650i on the other hand has a larger 4.4-liter V8 engine that is capable of producing 445 horsepower. At the top of the range is the M6, which again is powered by the same 4.4-liter V8 engine that is capable of producing a whopping 560 horsepower in the standard form and 575 horsepower with a Competition Package installed.

Drive is transmitted to the rear wheels although the 640i and 650i can be fitted with an xDrive all-wheel drive option. The M6 however is really a rear-wheel drive vehicle. The 640i and 650i models use an 8-speed Steptronic auto transmission though the M6 is equipped with a 7-speed M-DCT dual clutch unit. Each of these two transmissions boasts of a feature called Launch Control.

2016 BMW 6-Series side

The M6 is the fastest among all 2016 BMW 6-Series. The coupe as well as the M6 Gran Coupe can accelerate from a standstill to sixty miles per hour in just 4.2 seconds. The M6 Convertible on the other hand is just .1 second slower. Each of these models has a top speed of 155 miles per hour. This speed is electronically controlled.

On the outside, the 640i and 650i have been tweaked to make the grille look more pronounced. The front bumper has a new intake design and fog lights have been placed on the edges of the bumpers. The regular LED headlights have been given a fresh look. Also, the mirror caps are more aerodynamic and the wheel patterns have also been changed.

On the inside of 2016 BMW 6-Series, the footwells and exit doors as well as glove box have all been given attractive LED illumination. Two leather upholstery options are offered including Dakota and Nappa. Black accents are also offered to the exteriors as well as to the cabin.
